I woke Caspian early this morning to take him to the hospital. He was going in for his right front tooth to be removed. He fell on it in May and it had been almost dislodged but it hung in there. We booked for it to be removed today ( we were worried about abscesses). A month ago I was having doubts, but with the introduction of the ketogenic diet, that little tooth and his gum began to erode. Oh well, yet another painful adventure for our little fellow. It was a breeze! So for the next few weeks I will be presenting soft foods. Today I gambled on a hot chocolate, but after being in the fridge at the hospital it turned into a milkshake. This is a 300 calorie, 3.36 to 1 ratio. Let me know how it goes at your house, please remember to recalculate it for your own ratio and ingredients.
42g of soy cream (21% fat)
60g of soy milk
8g of lindtz 85% cocoa
16g MCT oil
Melt the chocolate in a little dish in the microwave, double boiler or thermomix. Weigh out and combine the oil, cream and milk. Use your hand blender or food processor to blend the liquid chocolate and milks. Blend for at least 30 seconds to make it light and frothy. serve it hot or cold.
I struggled to get enough protein into this meal, and contemplated adding an almond or protein powder to boost it. I was short on time to I opted not to.
Caspian scoffed it very quickly and complained there wasn’t more! such is the keto diet.
