As you may have gathered from previous posts I like to go out and about & socialise, I’m a wandering soul. With Caspian starting the ketogenic diet this has been put on hold. I have managed to find one place that I can eat out at, the local RSL. Most days I prepare three meals for Caspian in the morning, his breakfast, morning tea and lunch. This gives us until about four in the afternoon before we need to return home for more fuel. This Friday gone I made the mistake of going out without food (I always take a minimum of one meal with me, anywhere) and I paid for it. I got stuck at a chiropractic appointment at Caspian’s dinner time. Poor Caspian did get seriously hungry and I fed him over an hour late, which I suspect contributed to his seizure the next day.
Skip forward to two days later, on a beautiful sunny spring day, I had the teenage sons of dear family friends begging me to stay and have dinner with them. I was out of food, and yet… I really wanted to stay. Then I remembered, in my wallet I had a little piece of paper with the exact weights required for Caspian’s favourite meal, hallelujah! We had our first impromptu meal whilst out at friends, luxury, hurrah! All I needed was my scrap of paper and my little scales to weigh out lots of pork fat and vegetables. It was so easy. I am considering leaving my spare scales in the car from now on. You may wonder why I had it on a scrap of paper and not in my fancy new iPhone? IPhones go flat, pieces of paper don’t.
What a wonderful evening it was, I was cooked a lovely meal, drank a few glasses of wine and enjoyed fabulous company.
