Do you know what you stand for? Not stand against…but stand for?
What interests you? What encourages you & fires you up? What do you fight for? What do you stand for?
I wrote a little manifesto a few months back. My Beloved laughed saying “ you never talk about that, you aren’t that!” I think some of the things I stand for have been quiet in the background for a long time. Here is a version;
I passionately believe in free health care for all, not matter what. I desperately want all children and adults to grow in their understanding of what it takes to be healthy, whether they start out as vegetarians or don’t even know what a vegetable tastes like. With growth and knowledge comes greater personal responsibility for your own health. As a chiropractor I work with the philosophy that our body inherently knows how to heal itself.
I believe in free education for all. Enough said.
I am a feminist. I have sons. I want all Peoples, in all countries to be accepted for themselves, no matter their gender, sexual preferences, their religion or lack of religion & naturally whether they have a disability. I know we in Australia still have a long way to go.
My mum used to call me a bush baby. We camped, bush walked, went on long outback trips, bird watched and kayaked when I was little. I did zoology initially at Uni. I joined the Wildness society & grew vegetables and recycled long before it was fashionable. Caring about our planet is just part of who I am. My Beloved laughed recently at my manifesto as he claimed there was not enough evidence of my being Green (cloth nappies, voting Green & recycling is all I’ve managed of late). The natural world is just part of me so naturally I stand for the Earth too.
My deep worry is the increasing global toxicity. It is something that is so pervasive and deadly to all ecosystems. I feel we as individuals should do our best to limit our use of chemicals, pesticides, plastics and synthetics ( ie cosmetics). How much of inflammation based Chronic diseases are exacerbated by the toxic dump in our cells?
Or to put it another way:
I stand for Responsibility, Integrity (within self and towards others) & Joy.
Tell me … do you know what you stand for?
